Job Description
- Performs drafting for Standard Drawings and construction projects using AutoCAD® based on verbal instructions or sketches provided by Engineers and Engineering Manager.
- Assists in ensuring that all plans are prepared in accordance with Specifications, Special Provisions, Standard Drawings, and Drafting Standards.
- Assists Engineers and Engineering Manager in preparing master plans, specifications, exhibits and compiling information for capital budgets, project status reports, and project schedules.
- Assists Engineers and Engineering Manager in preparing cost estimates and compiling cost data from different sources including RS Means.
- Prepares as-built plans of completed projects and updates system maps.
- Ability to use plotters and printers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate of Science degree in Computer Aided Drafting Technology preferred.
- Two years of CAD experience in general civil design or in public utilities design required.
- Computer literacy including word processing, spreadsheets, graphics and databases.
- Mathematical skill for basic engineering calculations is required.
- Basic knowledge of water and wastewater utilities.
- Experience in the design of water and wastewater facilities is highly desirable.
- Effective typing, written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to read engineering plans and maps.
- AutoCAD® certification(s) preferred.
- Experience with GIS applications preferred.
- Experience with hydraulic modeling preferred.
- Successful candidates must pass background checks which include the National Agency Check (NAC).
